Container Seafreight

When cargo volume, route flexibility, and cost control matter more than maximum speed, sea freight is often the most practical solution. For shipments connected to Ukraine, it remains a key part of many import, export, and transit logistics flows.

At TGL Ukraine, we help clients manage sea freight in real operating conditions — where routing, port handling, documentation, timing, and onward delivery all need to work together. We do not treat sea freight as a simple port-to-port booking. We build each solution around the actual shipment, its requirements, and the realities of the route.

Our sea freight services include:

  • FCL transportation for full-container cargo
  • LCL shipping for smaller volumes that do not require a full container
  • Oversized and non-standard cargo, including machinery, equipment, and heavy units
  • Route planning and shipment coordination based on cargo type, destination, and delivery timeframe
  • Customs support and cargo documentation, including declarations
  • Port terminal handling, including storage, consolidation, and cross-docking

We work with shipments involving Ukraine, Europe, Asia, North and South America. If you are looking for a partner who understands the operational side of maritime logistics, our team is ready to help.

How We Solve Client Challenges

Import of Industrial Equipment from Asia

A Ukrainian industrial company needed to source and deliver a large batch of manufacturing equipment from China. TGL managed the full logistics chain — from port of origin in Shanghai, through routing via Rotterdam, to final delivery in Odesa. Our team coordinated customs clearance, documentation, and port terminal handling, ensuring the shipment arrived on schedule despite tight production deadlines.

Export of Agricultural Products to Europe

A Ukrainian agricultural exporter needed a reliable route for regular bulk shipments to Northern European markets. TGL arranged consolidated LCL shipments through Gdynia, optimising packing and documentation for each departure. The result: a regular, cost-efficient export flow that scaled with seasonal demand.

Import of CAT Excavators to Ukraine

A Ukrainian construction company needed to deliver oversized CAT crawler excavators from Asia to Kyiv. TGL arranged shipment on special equipment via the Port of Constanța, coordinated port handling and customs formalities, and organised final inland delivery to the Kyiv region. This approach helped the client move heavy machinery safely and on schedule while reducing route-related risks on the way to Ukraine.

Importing Bananas from Ecuador in Reefer Containers

A Ukrainian fruit importer was losing money on every third consignment: the fruit arrived either over-ripe or showing chilling injury, with no way to prove the cause. TGL moved the supply onto reefer containers at a +13.2 °C carriage regime with fresh air ventilation, a mandatory PTI on every unit, its own temperature recorders inside the cargo and guaranteed plug-in at each transshipment point on the route via Constanța. The fruit now enters the ripening rooms green, and every consignment carries a full temperature profile.

Importing Energy Storage Systems from China (Class 9)

A Ukrainian company installing energy storage systems had its booking cancelled by the line after lithium-ion batteries were declared as ordinary equipment. TGL classified the cargo under UN3480, assembled the manufacturer's test summary and the dangerous goods declaration, cleared the booking and stowage plan with the line, and handled the switch from IMDG to ADR rules on the inland leg via Gdansk. The consignment arrived without a single roll-over.

Bottles from China, Bottling in Nemyriv, Export to the USA

A US distributor ordered Nemiroff vodka in a bottle of its own, made to a dedicated mould in China. TGL planned both shipments as a single project, working back from the bottling date: an FCL with a packing scheme built for fragile glass, clearance of the glassware under the inward processing regime instead of paying duty and VAT, and sea export of the finished product to the Port of New York and New Jersey. The bottling run did not shift and the container arrived ahead of launch.

Importing Agricultural Machinery from the USA by Ro-Ro

A farming enterprise bought six used machines at US auctions: combines, tractors and a sprayer. Machinery like this does not fit a container, and dismantling it would have eaten the entire saving on the purchase. TGL shipped the units by Ro-Ro, where machines drive aboard under their own power: preparation for port handover including pressure washing for phytosanitary requirements, roll trailers for the non-running units, reloading at Bremerhaven and low-bed delivery. All six machines were standing in the farm yard two weeks before harvest.

Bulk Fertiliser Import Through a Danube Port

A fertiliser distributor was importing urea from Egypt in five-thousand-tonne lots: too small for an ocean bulker and too expensive by road. TGL chartered a coaster for the whole consignment, a vessel that comes up the Danube to the port with no transshipment abroad. Draft was calculated against the actual river level, grab discharge was halted during rainfall, and the weight was fixed by draft survey appointed on both sides. The consignment was distributed in ten days and the client entered the sowing season with stock in the warehouse.
